About Isla Grande,
Colon, Panama
This natural
beauty, imposing mass of exuberant vegetation, of white
sand beach with coconut palms, in which the ocean shines with
differente blue colors has an extension 5 Kms and a widen of 1½
Kms. The island evolved through three stages before being
populated. First, agriculture; second, cattles;
third, coconut plantation with the arrival of the families:
Durán, Catano, Guábila, Ceballos near 1850.
The black race predominates
in its population. Major economic activities include fishing,
coconut grow, commerce and tourism.
Isla Grande biggest beach is called "La Punta".
