Riding Public Bus: Take the bus towards Colon
City at the Albrook Terminal in Panama City (around hour and half, $ 2.50). Once
in Colon City Bus Terminal take a bus to the Guaira
(around two hours, $ 2.85), this way you will travel seated. Buses depart at
9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM. You could also
get down before arriving to Colon City, at
Sabanitas (at El Rey 24 hours supermarket) and take here another bus to La Guaira
Town.
Driving: Take the highway towards Colon City. Once in Sabanitas make a
right turn by El Rey 24 hours supermarket. Keep going toward Portobelo. Be
careful, usually there are no signs where you should make another right turn so
ask around. After this last right turn keep going straight past
Portobelo(you will see an spaniard conquistadors fortress at Portobelo´s
entrance, by the ocean). About 8 km past Portobelo there is an
intersection where the road splits to the right to continue along Colon coast
and to the left toward La Guaira, your destination.
When arriving at La Guaira, you will encounter several sites to park and to take a boat to cross to
Isla Grande, right in front (3 minutes, $ 1.50). Although it is a short trip,
everyone should use peronal floating devices, by law.
Total one way trip cost: $ 6.85.
Buses from La Guaira depart toward
Colón City at 5:00 A.M., 6:30 A.M., 7:30 A.M., 9:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.. On sundays and holidays
departures are at 7:00 A.M., 10 A.M., 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. From Colon City
Bus Terminal buses depart constantly to Panama.
